Solarwinds and Tripplite UPS

Hello,

I currently have several Tripplite UPS power management backup units installed in our network, most with the WebLX addon card installed that supports HTML 5.  I am finding several of the cards are reporting "Receive Discards", very few but they are reporting the errors.

I have tried several things to get them to play nice with SW:

1.  Updated firmware to latest available on the website (15.5.5)

2. Removed and re-added the cards from SW

3. Resat the card physically.

4.  Did a software reset of the card.

Changed the speed at which it connects to our Cisco switches from Auto to 100 FULL/100 HALF etc.. (cards are only 100 MB).

 

I am perplexed what to do, some of the unit are going across a VPN tunnel to me, so are local.

 

Any thoughts would be appreciated, I am ready to just remove the from SW and maybe setup their SMTP warning instead.

Creating Netflow multi-port application failed for a large range ports

When I try to create a large range of ports, such as 49152-65535, nothing happens. The application does not appear, the window freezes.

NTA: What is this cruel trick CBQoS reports play?

So, I am trying to create a CBQOS report. I see the default ones. I tried to create my own. The ones I tried to create did not work. The default report does work. So, I created a report using the exact same entries for datasource. The report I created still shows "No activity to report." But the default report does work. Is this a cruel trick that NTA developers play, and secretly laugh imagining all the engineers perplexed by their nefarious plan? <said in jest>

The greyed-out areas are just host names I included in title of datasource and report title. However, there is no hostname limitation on the caption field of the datasource, so the host names should not report results.

So, what gives? Same data source configuration, different results?

Netflow unhappy with Cisco 3850 flow format

I have one Cisco device - a 3850      Version 03.03.01SE that the Solar Winds NTA is rejecting for its format. The Help button in the error message sent me to a page does not exist. :-( And my web search is not being productive. I want to see the traffic that flowing through the device - particularly what end systems are using the most traffic. If I could get BGP information that'd be a bonus.

 

NetFlow Receiver Service [ORION-123] received NetFlow V9 flows without any template for decoding them. Configure the device 10.1.10.6 to export an appropriate NetFlow V9 template at 1-minute intervals. See help for details.

NTA ingress and egrass graph is not matching interface bps

Hi,

 

   My NTA is not showing true data in graph. For example, In netflow source table, Interface 's value is so different from interface detail graph. l think , interface graphs not showing true netflow value in a graph. What is your advice?

How to delete absolete data from database.

Hello!

 

I use Demo-version of NTA 2019.4 with basic SQL Express database, i added several network devices which are already filled this database (i got notice "SQL Express database is over 80% full."), unfortunately i can't change database type now because of temporary usage this system, so my question is how i can (and can i?) delete all information about my network traffic from this database to have little more time for testing.

NTA Flow Storage Data space issue

Hi,

 

We have Orion with NPM (12.2) and NTA (4.2.3). NTA is installed on a separate server, but in C: drive.

 

Since one month, the drive is getting full (99%) and server team asked us to remove some data. We are working on mulitple clients and having Solarwinds environments. We never got any problem like this, except this one and never cleaned up NTA flow storage data space/files.

 

Based on our request, they have increased 60GB as well on C: drive. Still it is reaching 98% in one week. May we remove some old data, if need be or we should not remove any historical data as attached here.

CBQoS in Juniper

We are getting CBQoS from our cisco routers, but now our wan supplier is changing to Juniper router.

Is there any equal Cisco CBQos in Juniper to read out from SolarWinds?

How to Sync Router to NTA

Hi there,

 

            I have my cisco router proper configured for NTA, but I saw "last received netflow" is never on solarwinds. After I compared to a working router, the only commands missing are for "setup NBAR2 on cisco device". Are those commands necessary? Is there any specific setting on solarwinds that I need to turn on/sync in order to send netflow traffic? Thanks.

Ingress/Egress Data Identical

                I'm monitoring routers inside/outside firewall. Why Ingress/Egress Data Identical? Is this normal? The graphs are look the same. The real bytes are just a little bit different. Thank you.

on Friday 9/5 we upgraded to NTA 4.0.3 from NTA 4.0.2, ever since the main NTA summary page is showing a message:

 

"There is currently update running on database. Please wait for it to finish to data become accurate"

 

It is now Thursday 9/11 - seems like almost a week to run a database update is excessive.

NOC Conversation display error

Hi,

 

Has anyone else experienced an issue when attempting to display the top conversations in a NOC view? I have added a "Custom object resource" which uses one of our monitored nodes; then I select the "Top XX Conversations (endpoint view)". When added during the editing view it seems to work fine. It will display both the data and graph/chart above without issue. However as soon as I switch to NOC view with the same board, it just displays "Internal server error" - but the data below shows fine. Has anyone seen this and been able to resolve it?

How to measure real time bps?

Fair warning: I am still learning out SolarWinds...I have been tasked with refining our network monitoring and to better understand the ins and outs of SolarWinds.

 

I have a page dedicated for all of our sites' WAN interface to measure historical bits in/out:

 

 

While this gives HISTORICAL data, I would like a way to measure real-time bps BOTH in and out on those same interfaces - kind of like how Perfstack measure total bytes over the interface with real-time polling:

 

Is this possible or am I missing something?
